वायुर्यमोऽग्निर्वरुणः शशाङ्कः

प्रजापतिस्त्वं प्रपितामहश्च ।

नमो नमस्तेऽस्तु सहस्रकृत्वः

पुनश्च भूयोऽपि नमो नमस्ते ॥३९॥

vāyur yamo 'gnir varuṇaḥ śaśāṅkaḥ prajāpatis tvaṁ prapitāmahaś ca namo namas te 'stu sahasra-kṛtvaḥ punaś ca bhūyo 'pi namo namas te

Translationअनुवाद

You are air, fire, water, and You are the moon! You are the supreme controller and the grandfather. Thus I offer my respectful obeisances unto You a thousand times, and again and yet again!

आप वायु हैं तथा परम नियन्ता हैं । आप अग्नि हैं, जल हैं तथा चन्द्रमा हैं । आप आदि ब्रह्मा हैं और आप प्रपितामह हैं । अतः आपको हजार बार नमस्कार है और पुनः नमस्कार है ।

Purportतात्पर्य

The Lord is addressed here as air because the air is the most important representation of all the demigods, being all-pervasive. Arjuna also addresses Kṛṣṇa as the grandfather because He is the father of Brahmā, the first living creature in the universe.

भगवान् को वायु कहा गया है, क्योंकि वायु सर्वव्यापी होने के कारण समस्त देवताओं का मुख्य अधिष्ठाता है । अर्जुन कृष्ण को प्रपितामह (परबाबा) कहकर सम्बोधित करता है, क्योंकि वे विश्र्व के प्रथम जीव ब्रह्मा के पिता हैं ।
