The Universal Form

पश्यादित्यान्वसून्रुद्रानश्विनौ मरुतस्तथा ।
बहून्यदृष्टपूर्वाणि पश्याश्चर्याणि भारत ॥६॥
paśyādityān vasūn rudrān aśvinau marutas tathā bahūny adṛṣṭa-pūrvāṇi paśyāścaryāṇi bhārata

paśya — see; ādityān — the twelve sons of Aditi; vasūn — the eight Vasus; rudrān — the eleven forms of Rudra; aśvinau — the two Asvins; marutaḥ — the forty-nine Maruts (demigods of the wind); tathā — also; bahūni — many; adṛṣṭa — that you have not heard or seen; pūrvāṇi — before; paśya — there see; āścaryāṇi — all the wonderful; bhārata — O best of the Bhāratas.
पश्य — देखो; आदित्यान् — अदिति के बारहों पुत्रों को; वसून् — आठों वसुओं को; रुद्रान् — रूद्र के ग्यारह रूपों को; अश्र्विनौ — दो अश्र्विनी कुमारों को; मरुतः — उञ्चासों मरुतों को; तथा — भी; बहूनि — अनेक; अदृष्ट — देखे हुए; पुर्वाणि — पहले, इसके पूर्व, पश्य -देखो,आश्र्चर्याणि- समस्त आश्चर्यों को; भारत — हे भरतवंशियों में श्रेष्ठ.

Translationअनुवाद

O best of the Bhāratas, see here the different manifestations of Ādityas, Rudras, and all the demigods. Behold the many things which no one has ever seen or heard before.

हे भारत! लो, तुम आदित्यों, वसुओं, रुद्रों, अश्र्विनीकुमारों तथा अन्य देवताओं के विभिन्न रूपों को यहाँ देखो । तुम ऐसे अनेक आश्चर्यमय रूपों को देखो, जिन्हें पहले किसी ने न तो कभी देखा है, न सुना है । .

Purportतात्पर्य

Even though Arjuna was a personal friend of Kṛṣṇa and the most advanced of learned men, it was still not possible for him to know everything about Kṛṣṇa. Here it is stated that humans have neither heard nor known of all these forms and manifestations. Now Kṛṣṇa reveals these wonderful forms.

यद्यपि अर्जुन कृष्ण का अन्तरंग सखा तथा अत्यन्त विद्वान था, तो भी वह उनके विषय सबकुछ नहीं जानता था । यहाँ पर यह कहा गया है कि इन समस्त रूपों को न तो मनुष्य पूर्व देखा है, न सुना है । अब कृष्ण इन आश्चर्यमय रूपों को प्रकट कर रहे हैं ।
